Discovery Fire Sprinklers has successfully completed commissioning and client demonstration at the QUB PBSA development in Belfast, delivered on behalf of Stothers (M&E) Ltd.
The project represents an important milestone for Discovery Fire Sprinklers as our first completed project in Belfast, while the development itself is Ireland’s first Passivhaus student accommodation scheme.
Our team recently joined representatives from Queen’s University Belfast for the full project walkthrough, witness testing and cause-and-effect sign-off, including a detailed demonstration and Q&A covering all three fire protection systems installed as part of the development.
The project incorporates a BS EN 12845 OH1 sprinkler system, a BS 9251 Category 4 residential sprinkler system and a BS 9990 dry riser system.

Delivering three systems within a fast-paced construction programme required close coordination throughout the project. We would like to thank Conan and Emmet from Stothers (M&E) Ltd, alongside our own contracts team, engineers and subcontractors, for their work in taking the project through to successful commissioning and handover.
The completion also comes as Discovery Fire Sprinklers continues to expand its presence in Belfast. We currently have two further projects progressing in the city, with both programmes running well.
And there is considerably more to come.
Design work is set to begin on what will be our largest Belfast project to date, representing another significant step forward for Discovery Fire Sprinklers in Northern Ireland. Further details will be announced in the coming weeks.
