Discovery Fire Sprinklers has successfully completed and fully certified its latest major residential project at the Mintlaw housing development, where 74 new affordable homes have been delivered as part of an initiative led by Ogilvie Construction. The project enhances fire safety across this new community and ensures every property is protected to the latest compliance standards.
The development features a mix of single dwellings and low-rise blocks of flats. Discovery provided a complete active fire protection solution, covering full design, installation and commissioning to BS9251:2021 standards, with systems installed to both Category 1 and Category 2 levels.
Key to the delivery was the installation of 850 sprinklers across the development, supported by three 4000-litre storage tanks and three dedicated fire pump sets to ensure system resilience. The project also included Cat 2 system monitoring, full attic protection with trace heating and lagging, and a robust infrastructure design incorporating 61 isolation control valves to enable sectional control and future maintenance flexibility.
Ogilvie Construction, with a proven track record in high-quality housing delivery, continues to lead on sustainable and safe residential developments across Scotland. The Mintlaw project builds on the company’s previous successes in Aberdeen and Midlothian, helping to provide modern, efficient homes that meet the needs of local communities.
Discovery Fire Sprinklers’ involvement at Mintlaw further strengthens its position as one of Scotland’s trusted active fire protection partners for large-scale residential projects helping clients deliver safe, compliant housing backed by technical expertise and proven performance.
