Discovery Fire Sprinklers Goes the Distance for Cancer Research UK

The Discovery Fire Sprinklers team at the Race For Life 5k, Camperdown Park, Dundee 15th June 2025

On Sunday 15th June, a team from Discovery Fire Sprinklers swapped tools for trainers to take on the Race for Life 5k at Dundee’s Camperdown Park, raising vital funds in support of Cancer Research UK.

The race saw DFS colleagues from the newly opened Glasgow office visit in a great team building exercise that also did a lot for such a great casue. Race for Life is one of the UK’s most recognised charity events, bringing together communities across the country in a powerful show of solidarity. Organised by Cancer Research UK, it has raised hundreds of millions since its launch in 1994, helping to fund life-saving research, breakthrough treatments, and hope for millions of families.

For the DFS team, this was more than just a run, it was a chance to honour loved ones affected by cancer and show support for a cause that touches so many. The 5k route through the leafy paths of Camperdown was filled with emotion, determination and pink, lots and lots of pink.

Discovery Fire Sprinklers’ James Bryceland shared why these events matter,“Raising well-needed money throughout the year is important to the DFS team, as we all know someone who has been affected in some way by illness or a serious diagnosis. It’s also a brilliant way to build team spirit and take a step outside our day-to-day routine. I’m incredibly proud of the team we’re building. It’s not just a workforce, it’s a family.”

So far, the team’s efforts at the Race for Life have raised £1,500 and counting. It brings DFS’s total charitable fundraising to over £5,000 since November, a reflection of the team’s passion for giving back and standing together for causes that matter.

A huge well done to everyone who took part, donated, or cheered from the sidelines.
