Discovery Fire Sprinklers is proud to announce its latest local sponsorship, Dundee boxer Paul Kean, as he gears up for a major bout this October.
The partnership was sparked in true 21st-century style. DFS Boss James Bryceland spotted one of Paul’s social media posts and immediately reached out. “Big Paul put up a post, I saw it and jumped on it,” James explains. “We had a meeting soon after, and it just made sense.”
The 32 year old Dundee native, Paul made his name as a world-class kickboxer, securing multiple titles and earning a fierce reputation across Europe, before turning his talents to professional boxing. Amongst his achievements, he currently holds the IBO Continental Middleweight Champion title following a spectacular hometown victory at Dundee’s Caird Hall, defeating seasoned Nigerian fighter Sulaimon Olagbade.
The upcoming fight, set to take place in Glasgow on 4 October and televised live, against Glaswegian Aston Brown and is expected to be one of Paul’s toughest yet. “I’ve sparred with the guy a few times, it’s going to be hard,” Paul says, “but I 100% think I’ll get him.”
The DFS sponsorship is already making a tangible difference to Paul’s training. “It helps me and my family, lets me focus fully on the fight,” he explains. “My medical checks alone are expensive, and this support means I can also afford to attend a
training camp in Tenerife.”
Now three weeks into training, Paul says he’s feeling better than ever. “This is the best I’ve felt going into a fight in years. I’ve been training constantly, staying switched on. I feel great.”
For James and the DFS team, backing local talent has always been a key part of the company’s ethos. “We’ve sponsored football clubs and ice hockey teams, but this one’s special,” James says. “It’s a Dundee fighter, fighting in Glasgow, just as
we’re expanding into the city with our new office. The stars have aligned.”
Paul’s October fight represents not just a personal challenge but a moment of pride for the local community. With DFS in his corner, he’s ready to give it everything
